Wednesday 16th December 2020
As we enter ‘burnout’ phase I’m pretty happy with my progress in Warcraft. I’m naturally playing a bit less (except for Wednesday’s weekly reset where there’s a lot to do) but it hasn’t stopped me being super-productive.
Obviously the focus for most of the past week was gearing the Raiding main for Castle NAthria Normal Mode on Sunday. That went well, even if I only just made the requirements of ilevel 170 gear. But I got a few good weekly drops this week and as such I’ve jumped in ilevel today to around 176 / 177.
Likewise I’ve got over my fear of pugs and taken my Death Knight main out to get their gear up. I was a bit worried I was locking myself out of content (LFR, some higher wings of Torghast) by not raising their ilevel from 152.
I ran as Unholy (because I’m not suicicdal to run dungeons as a tank). I’ve found I’ve got dungeons quickly and got some decent loot drops. Likewise, I got some good loot drops from weeklies so I’m now 172, which is some major progress.
Biggest barrier now to progressing on both characters are Mythics. I have a guild with my Demon Hunter but I always seem to be busy or miss the call when they got and do mythics as a group. On my Death Knight it isn’t going to be quite so easy and I may have to form my own groups.
For now, the boost on both characters makes me feel I’m set up for the week. I’ve already rescued Jaina on my main and I reckon I’m ready to try some higher layers of Torghast if I want.
However, whilst I intend to make use of the bonus dungeon event to get some missing upgrades, what I want to start doing now is levelling more alts. I have one at 54 just about to Maldraxxus, a couple at 52 in bastion and one on Threads of Fate that I’m just using for gathering who is 52 as a result.
This is perfect di[p in and out content. So I hope to couple it with writing sessions. Do a bit of levelling on an alt, do a bit of writing.
I feel I’ve made good progress last week, and whilst I still do feel a bit behind… I don’t feel so as much. A lot of progress is now gated weekly, and as such others I’m playing with are unable to get further ahead. I feel I closed the gap in the past week.
And with an army of alts, there’s a lot I can start doing once I get them to max level… although that is a MASSIVE job and one I doubt I’ll have completed in the next week or two.
