A Chilled Birthday – The Climb #573

Thursday 17^th September 2020

I had a pretty chill birthday.

Whilst saying another year closer to death is a bit morbid, I’ve got to an age where they represent a span of time of not having completed things. Whilst I’m not a person who generally directly compares my achievements to those of others, those people who accomplish so much by their early thirties now undermine your own accomplishments a little. Why are you taking so long; your life will be over before you can even enjoy it.

And with lockdown and family that have to self-isolate until next year, we’ve collectively decided that all birthday and xmas celebrations are going to be delayed until next summer. 2020 is cancelled.

I still got some cards and a few gifts, as well as abundance of well wishes. As I was cooked for tonight, I used money sent to me to treat me to a takeaway tonight towards a LEGO Xbox game so the evening could be spent playing games offline. You can never go wrong with a LEGO game.

I’ve still got my cold, although I’m coughing and sniffling less. I feel more congested and still feel a bit run down. Whilst the fever dreams from earlier in the week are gone, I’m still feeling a bit run down and as such haven’t started any writing.

My interest in story has increased though. I decided, after watching a gold making video that said having alts on other servers was a good long term idea, that I should level my alliance alt through BFA. There’s an entire story there I haven’t experienced. I didn’t have a whole lot of time to play and BFA has an awful lot of set up before you get to the island, but I managed to get to Kul Tiras.

Already I’m really impressed with Jaina’s storyline and am keen to play more, just to experience the story.

There are a ton of great Youtubers who cover speculation and lore, but part of me wants to take my writer’s hat and really pull apart some of these Warcraft stories. Perhaps when Shadowlands comes round I might stream with attention to the story. But for now I’m content to just experience this new Alliance storyline without detailed commentary.

So all in all, a pretty chill birthday filled with good food and LEGO dinosaurs.
