I think I know what I’m writing in January.

Of course, I still have this current NaNoWriMo novel I need to finish before then.  But I figure buy first or second week of December I should be burnt out a little with World of Warcraft and I can finish it off.

I think I’ll wait until then when I’ll have a better idea of my pace of writing before I start planning.  I need to outline the 2021 novel, I need to have space between outlining and writing.

Part of me wonders if there’s some work I can do now, but I’m not ready.  I’m going to play Warcraft and let the ideas flow as they tend to do.

Speaking of Warcraft, I’m pretty much done on pre-patch gearing.  I do a little bit here and there, and I still log on for the bag attempts every 3 hours 20 mins, but I’m now a little burnt out on pre-patch activities.  Just as well as I have a couple of Pokemon Go events this weekend which will eat my time.

So I’m currently wondering about scheduling.  I’m thinking about all my projects and working out what are the most efficient ways to get their various stages completed.  I’m thinking about my day and how best to manage it so I can get all the things done that I want to do, and I know that there’s probably a big bout of planning that needs to be done.

But I’m treating Shadowlands release as a vacation.  Whilst I’ve played the game a lot, I’ve been also working behind the scenes.  Maybe not as efficiently or as focused as I would like due to lockdown, but still working… but I work best when I mix Warcraft with writing.  And come Monday, I’m off for 2 weeks.  No doubt I’ll burn out on Warcraft content before then.  Ideas tend to come when they aren’t welcome… but officially this is my one and only holiday this year.

Which means I’m loathe to start anything that will then make my vacation in Azeroth a guilt-fest.  Just as I would reenergise and refocus if I were off on some beach somewhere (not that I tend to go to places with beaches but you catch what I mean), so my focus on gaming will allow me time to strategise and reinvigorate.

The weirdest thing is how much I don’t want to, though.  I mean, I want to play stupid long hours of Warcraft’s latest expansion, but actually giving myself a forced break from the writing is something I feel twitchy about.  I’d rather have stuff I should be doing, have no time and feel guilt.  Which is, of course, stupid, and a sign I need to switch off for a while.

Right now, I’ve metaphorically bought my holiday clothes, found my passport and ordered my money from the bank.  Over the weekend I need to pack, ready for my trip to the virtual airport on Monday.  Destination: Azeroth
