Pokemon GoFest Day 2
Today was the second day of play-at-home GoFest.
As much as I miss the fun of being in a park with tens of thousands of other players, this event has been fun and the most fun I’ve had in Pokemon Go in a very long time.
Today was the rocket takeover event. It used to be that you had to travel to Pokestops to find and battle team rocket, but now with the advent of rocket balloons they come to you.
Today had been a secret and billed as something special. I honestly thought it a bit overhyped. I should like Team rocket as it’s PVE and uses the Pokemon I like to collect and power up, but it eats potions and because of that whenever I play it heavily, it dents my resources heavily.
My plan was to get through the quests as quick as I could so I could get back to incense and getting more shinies. Took me about 90 minutes which was one of the fastest in our local community so I was quite happy (not because it was a race but because I’d maximised my time for incense).
We didn’t go out today, instead playing from home the entire day. I don’t think we missed out, and I still got a large number of shinies.
The resources I’d stockpiled for this event got heavily dented which not only justified the prep to myself but also meant I’d judged what resources I’d need correctly.
I was happy with the shinies I got. I got some spares to trade for the ones I’m missing, but to be honest, I got to the end and was done. Next week I can have a sort out (something I never do then complain I have no space) and arrange trades.
I really enjoyed the event and to be honest, it was the best fun I’ve had in Pokemon Go probably this year. What I particularly enjoyed was that the prep I did meant that I felt I optimised my playing. I could do all the things I wanted without having to worry about resources, giving myself the best chance.
Whether we’ll ever see an in-person GoFest again remains to be seen, but I thoroughly enjoyed this weekend, even if I end it feeling exhausted and not wanting to see another Pokemon for a couple of days.
