Pokemon Go Charmander Community Day – The Climb #603

I’m having a bit of a Pokemon Go weekend this weekend. We’ve got our local PvP tournament tomorrow which whilst it is all remote conducted over discord, is a way for a bunch of local players to virtually meet up. And then today was Charmander community day.

This is the second time Charmander has been featured in a community day. I got a load of shinies from the first one. The exclusive move is a bit crap as well. So we decided to do something a bit different. We went IV hunting.

I got the special research and completed it within an hour, managing to get a perfect IV from my final reward as well as a bunch of shinies.

Our friend Webby drove and we went to Chippenham where we then chased down the reports of perfect IVs (100%s).

For a community day, that for us was originally looking a bit crap, we had a ton of fun. We changed up our game, leaving the shiny hunting for a different aspect of the game. And whilst we only ended up with a couple of 100%ers, it felt like a really good result.

I evolved them for the move, and plan to TM Blast Burn onto them at some point in the future, but all my stardust needs to be saved for the PvP tournament tomorrow. For a tournament where I had the Pokemon I needed, the powering up, second moves and last minute switch out has resulted in me spending hundreds of thousands of stardust, when I was originally expecting to spend none.

As much as I’m not enjoying Pokemon Go as much as I did right now, I have to say I had some real fun today. It was good to go out and hunt Pokemon like we did before the Pandemic. Hopefully when things become a bit normal it’ll be easier to play.
