I feel like I’m treading water a bit at the moment.
There are a number of things I’m waiting on, which explains why some projects have been ticking away in the background and not seeming like they are progressing. Couple this with a cough that still hasn’t gone away – most likely exhaustion from a combination of life stresses and burngeddon – and I’ve not seen the point in starting anything new when I don’t have to.
I’ve tried to keep myself busy with gaming. Played loads of Warcraft and Xbox. But with the announcement that Shadowlands is delayed, I’ve found a lot of my forward momentum arrested. I’m still playing but there doesn’t seem the urgency there once was.
This makes me a bit restless with other games. And frankly, I’ve gamed a lot this past month.
I’m reading the latest Dresden novel and enjoying that but that’ll be done in the next couple of days.
Therefore, I’ve tried to do a bunch of planning today. Normally, my admin day is Monday, but I started doing some work today.
I’ve done a lot of work in recent years to go purely digital. I want it that I can access everything I need (from tasks, to notes to even manuscripts if needed) from my iPhone. I can already work from anywhere due to my setup but I find I still want to be sat behind a computer. There’s a difference between being able to and actually doing it.
And so, whilst I was restless today, I spent some time doing just that. Managing my planning and task tracking sat on a friend’s sofa whilst they played games.
I still prefer sitting behind a computer but I know now that my admin can not only be technically done from my phone, but practically as well.
As much as I know this was useful and a good use of my time currently, it still feels like I’m treading water currently. That’ll likely change in the next couple of weeks.
