Today I changed 2 sentences in the novel (making sure to make the corresponding changes in Scrivener), and sent it off to my agent.

I’m trying not to get too excited.  There’s something about this novel that feels … special.  I have plenty of other ideas that I think would make great novels but none of them are in the same league as this one.

But it’s not been easy.  I’m trying to tell an origin story, in a unique voice, from a single POV… and that’s challenging.  There’s been a LOT of drafts.

But with every draft I’ve leveled up.  People say they can see my improvement as a writer.  I’m not sure I can… but I do feel there are some parts of this novel that I read and am immensely proud of.

But, I’ve thought drafts good before (why else would I send them) only to get pointed out the flaws.

And of course, when they get pointed out, you do see the flaws…  and you wonder how you could ever have been so blind as to not have seen them.

I’m taking the speed of this draft as a positive sign.  Whilst… yes… there were times when I felt the speed I was getting through the edit was down to me not diving deep enough,  I do take the effortlessness of this draft as a sign that it came together.

So now  I wait again.  My agent has to read it and I don’t know what her workload is like right now, but I’m hoping it’ll be a quick turnaround.

And who knows…
