I’ve got an upcoming Staycation.

Given the day job owes me so much holiday I need to start taking it, so I’ve booked out 2 weeks from next week.

Of course, with Covid, I don’t plan to go anywhere other than the supermarket for essentials, so it’s going to be a Staycation.

To be honest though, I don’t mind them, and used them back before the pandemic. Sometimes I would time them around a Warcraft expansion release, or at other times when I needed to get a draft or rewrite done.

So the concept of staying home doesn’t bother me. For me, it’s 2 weeks when I can be a full-time writer. I can forget about other stuff and just really focus on completing a draft or editing.

My aim is to get this draft done. It’s going well and I’m approaching the third act. However, even once I get to the end I’ll need to go over a few general notes I’ve made (such as giving the cat a uniform name rather than a mix of the ones from two different drafts). And then I’ll need to do a final read through before I send it off.

There are things I’d like to get done around the house as well as some gaming goals as well – it is time off after all and I need to keep the batteries recharged.

Ordinarily I’d give myself one day off to go somewhere or do something different. This time will be a little different.

I joked on Twitter that I wanted to get a load done and it would be great if I could. I see these two weeks as time not to be wasted so if I can do as much as possible without getting to the end of it feeling like I could have used that time better, that would be great.
