So I’ve been going hard at Shadowlands for a week now.    My aims were to get a couple of characters levelled as well as getting all my alts through The Maw and picking up their professions so I’m feeling pretty accomplished.

Yet, there is so much to do that I’m still feeling behind.

I’m loving Torghast but I need to do more to ensure that I get the soul ash I need for my legendaries.  I’m not doing enough in The Maw and there’s a bunch of things to do before my covenant sanctum is set up.  And this is just on two characters.

To be fair, these activities will not be so important on my alts.  I’ll only need to level them enough to be able to speed through old content – and that’s broken right now so really all I’m worrying about is levelling and professions.

I’ve been streaming a lot of my game play as well as watching TV when doing the more grindy stuff like getting my Alts through to Oribos.  But it’s meant that I’ve spent a lot of time with my neck cranked at stream comments on the second monitor or at the TV and as a result, I’ve really strained my neck.

I know that it’s nothing serious but for a few days I need to keep my head straight.  So no playing in front of the TV, or streaming with comments on the second screen.

As much as it might not seem it, I’ve been trying to manage my game play so that I take breaks.  I have a support bubble and so each night, I go there for food, TV and a bit of conversation.  It rests my eyes more than anything as otherwise I’d be staring at a screen 24/7.

As a result, I’m not surprised it’s my neck rather than my eyes that has started to hurt.  I’d hoped that this week would have seen me start to get bored but I’ve still got so much to do that I could happily still play through the entire day.

I have another week of my WoWcation left.  Ordinarily, by now I’d be doing dailies for part of the day and spending the rest working on a rewrite or something non-gaming related.  But having not had a holiday this year, I’ve decided to fully embrace the WoWcation and take the full two weeks to solidly play.

Next week, I’ll scale it down, get myself back up to speed on projects and play a little less.  Hopefully by then characters will be geared and ready, and I can focus on dipping in and out of levelling the alt army.   My only hard deadline is raiding starting next week for which my alt needs to be geared (if that happens).  Then lockouts and raiding schedules mean that progression will be largely limited to just a couple of times a week and I’ll have a time outside of dailies to do other things (or at least not fight to find time).

So for now I’ll just not play in the evening so much, keep my head straight and make sure I stretch every hour or so.  My target for the week ahead is to use the mats my main has gathered to try and level some professions.  I feel there’s a load of opportunity to make gold these few weeks that I’m missing, but even given how many hours I’m playing, I just don’t feel I have time.

I have to remind myself that the goal was always to have an alt army and make income from old raids and professions going forwards.  If I can get their shadowlands professions levelled before the end of the expansion I’ll still be in a better position than I was during BFA.

Don’t get me wrong, I love there is so much to do, but I feel like I need another 48 hours in the day.

At least I won’t get bored during my next week of Wowcation!
