I got a couple of hours to myself today.  Whilst Craig was off to Bristol for an outpatients appointment, I got time to go back home and have a little me time.  Admittedly most of this consisted of doing washing, having a shower and popping to Tescos for food for the next couple of days, but I managed to update The Climb which was majorly behind.

Writing up those editions, allowed me to process a little of what’s happened over the last few days.  I still seem to be handling this all too well, although I couldn’t be sure if my rage against the maskless in Tesco was more extreme than normal.  A large part of me expects that if I was going to have an outburst, I’d have had it by now… but I’m constantly wary.

He’s making good progress.  His face is looking remarkable for someone who was on fire.  His ear still looks nasty but I’ve become a bit desensitised to it.  We found he’s good at taking care of the face because he can see where he needs to apply ointment in the mirror, but his neck (which is more badly burnt) needs more attention, and some of the more painful areas aren’t looking red.

Since we’ve been told we can use Vaseline, I’ve been applying that thick to his neck.  Like favourite-sandwich-spread thick.  We’ve not had enough of the paraffin ointment to be able to do that.  Thing is though… his neck drinks it in, and in the areas that are most burnt, so I refuse to feel guilty.  He’s feeling the benefits as well.  His skin hurts less and his movement in his neck improves.  So thick it is.

I packed my Xbox as Craig’s sister was talking about Sea of Thieves and Craig wanted to try it.  The idea was that we’d play it together – him on my Xbox and me on my laptop.  There was supposed to be a weird way that could work but as we found out, he can play if he uses my xbox but then I can’t play.

I was content to just watch him play.  Whilst his fingers weren’t too badly burnt, his hand and wrist were.  We did wonder if he could use a controller but it seems to be possible.

I’m feeling more than a little exhausted.  Even when I sit down, I’ve been unable to relax, which is why having a bit of me time was so important.
