I’m doing something that all writers must recognise.
I start a new week and say there are a list of things I want to complete. I may even have a list. But a busy week means you can’t get on it right at the start of the week. That’s OK, you tell yourself, there’s still the rest of the week.
And then before you know it you are already into the next week and you’ve done nothing.
I’m slightly annoyed by my World of Warcraft playing in recent weeks. I feel I should be doing more, even if only the edge up the total, but other things seem to take over.
I know it’s only a game, but I’ve set myself a challenge and feel I’m letting myself down by slacking.
I do kinda have an excuse though: Fortnite
The new season got released last week. Last season I didn’t play it a lot and nearly didn’t make it to level 100, despite the extended season. So this season I’ve wanted to start strong.
XP seems a little easier. Whilst the challenges have less XP, there are daily challenges worth 14k each. They reset each day. If you complete them you get challenges worth a 1/10th of the XP but at least unlike last season, you never run out. And if you don’t complete all 5 dailies, well, then your XP gets supercharged for the next day.
With that and punchcards (sort of Fortnite season achievements), I’m finding that I’m doing pretty well for XP. Yes, I did start at level 25 (mainly after what happened last season) but I’m already well into level 41 and don’t feel I’ve been playing heavily. Nor have I completed all the weekly challenges.
So dipping into that has cost me WoW time, which is bad. I keep seeing people getting their bronto and I feel I’m letting too much time slip me by.
I have holiday from the day job to take, and I am planning to take a couple of weeks off soon. But I might want to use that time elsewhere.
I still have a lot of work to do and I know the real panic will kick in when the release date is announced. Then I’ll be wishing I didn’t play Fortnite.
