It’s been a week since Craig burnt himself. It seems both no time at all and months ago.
He’s getting more independent. He took the dog out for a short walk today. It’s important that he get some independence and I don’t want his facial burns keeping him. It was also important for me to be able to step back a little and let him do things,
Biggest problem was picking up dog poop with his left hand without getting it on himself. I’m just glad he felt up to going out.
I took him for a dressing change today. The hospital gave him all the stuff he needs (he has these weird silver sticky pads that are used to keep the arm burns wet) so he could take it to the nurse at his doctor’s surgery to get the dressing changed. It still slips so we’ve improvised with some masking tape.
We played Fortnite tonight. My brother and his sister joined in so we could make a squad. Our aim was to take Doctor Doom down 3 times for the challenge. We were expecting disaster (and the comedy that comes with it) but we actually all did really well. I then stole a taxi, we jumped in, drove down the road and with the abilities we captured, we annihilated the other squads.
The victory umbrella is a badge of pride to say you are a good player, so when we won it, in the first week of the season, we felt massively accomplished. We then went on to win it a further 2 times. A lot of fun moments, and a really good way to unwind.
Even though this would have been an otherwise quiet week, I have a ton of things I need to do, so the plan is to let him sleep in tomorrow and try and spend a few hours getting my things done.
