I suck at Pokemon Go PvP

Last year our Pokemon Go community started to host Silph Arena competitions.  As one of the administrators for the community,  I felt it was probably right I took part, even if only to boost numbers.

We needed a minimum 8 for the tournament to work.  We made the effort of hiring out a hall rather than just meeting up in a shopping mall or pub, and whilst it was close sometimes, we’ve managed to hold regular cups once a month since.

What I like about our group is that we’re all super-relaxed.  We’ve got some brilliant players, and then there are people like me… who don’t do so well.  But everyone is willing to give each other advice and tips (well, after their matches) and there’s a good atmosphere despite the mixed abilities.

With Covid we’ve had to go online only but we’ve continued to see new people come along and have a great time.

I always make the mistake of never preparing my team until the last week before the tournament, and then finding the pokemon I really need to complete my lineup had been spawning wild for the last couple of weeks (and I’ve not bothered to catch any for a good PvP one).

However, this time I felt I had a really good team.  As time has gone on, my roster has improved and I was really pleased with my lineup.  There was a time when I wouldn’t even have a PvP ranked pokemon, but now I have some really good ones.

Yet, even this didn’t stop me getting my backside handed to me.

Maybe if I put more time into PvP I might do better, but with everything else on, it’s just one extra commitment I don’t seem to have time for (even though I probably do)

Still, as I always say, someone has to come last.  If this were a swordfight, I’d fair a lot better
