There seems to be this thing with World of Warcraft whereby if you want to make money then you do the content from several expansions back. It’s not that things are getting cheaper, it’s just that at a higher level, things become easier, and therefore quicker, and therefore more profitable.
I spent most of the day working on garrisons on all my characters. I did a lot back in the day but I’ve leveled more alts since. Thankfully, what I did back then set a lot of things up for now.
The idea behind Garrisons (or at least how I do it) is that you run simultaneous professions who compliment each other. So everyone sends their fur to the tailor to turn into Hexweave, their herbs to the alchemist to convert sorcerous elements into air, which in turn go to the tailor.
The latest thinking is that with the new expansion, we’re essentially going to need a lot of fur. So whereas, back in the day, alts got taverns to get followers with treasure hunting so they came back with money from missions, now you want a barn.
I’ve taken the time to level up everyone’s mines, herb garden and shipyard, because each of them can be used to funnel materials to appropriate characters. It’s costing quite a bit of money when counted across characters, but I’m hoping that the setup will prove worthwhile.
I also did a bit of professions leveling. Finally managed to level vanilla leatherworking. Given I have 6 more expansions and a ton more professions I think this could take some time.
Given I’ve still not shifted this cold and felt a bit rough as a result today, I really enjoyed putting a lot of time into Warcraft today. I’m aware that I probably need to back off a little otherwise I could burn myself out before the expansion in a month’s time, but there’s part of me that feels I’m never ready to take advantage of the in-game gold making opportunities that exist early in an expansion’s lifecycle. I’d like to be ready this time, although I suddenly realised today that there might indeed be a clash with a writing project.
Either way, I felt the time was worthwhile today given how I felt.
