I dunno why, but I thought I could decide to level up a profession and then do it in an evening.
I’ve started playing a bit more Warcraft this week, although it’s been a little sporadic. My focus has been professions and mainly Blacksmithing. I take a character, do the LFR Draenor raids until I reach the lockout, then go do a lap of Voldun with my Blacksmithing character, mining along the way and using the materials to level my blacksmithing.
Except, a single lap gives me enough ore to make 2, maybe 3 items. I’m not even half way through Blacksmithing.
It’s Darkmoon Faire this week so I thought I’d go and do the professions quests for an easy bump of 5 levels… only to find that I don’t have 75 in base blacksmithing and so the quest won’t appear.
I suppose I could buy ore but I’m a little loathe to waste what gold I have. I told myself I’d run some old content with the toon and allow myself to spend that money. But I never got time.
I am chipping away at it though. Slowly.
I have Zandalari engineering, alchemy, and tailoring at 150 or above, with inscription and blacksmith being actively worked on.
I really now need to start putting things on the auction house. Part of my delay in doing so has been in figuring out how TradeskillMaster works. It uses a combinations of groups and operations to determine what the crafting cost is and what’s profitable. I tried copying a bunch of other people’s groups but it’s just left me confused.
I was going to wipe and start again, using the exercise of my specific circumstances to force me to learn what I need, but there’s a new version in beta that changes how groups and operations work, so I’d now rather work towards that.
We were also supposed to have an announcement yesterday from Blizzard but that got cancelled due to the ongoing situation in the US, and many suspect it would have been the release date of the next expansion.
I’m starting to feel the pressure of the (currently unknown) looming deadline. I really need to pull my finger out. I have so far to go.
