Wednesday 7th July 2021

Today was my last day in the new Warcraft zone of Korthia.  I mean, I’ll still be doing dailies their tomorrow but I won’t be playing all day.

Over the last week, I’ve not only unlocked the area, but I’ve taken all my alts there and done the unlock quest for the reputation.

In an ideal world with no limits on time, I’d do dailies on them all.  But it’s taken me a week just to do the rep unlock.  Instead, I’m going to focus on my main and raiding main and try and keep them current with renown, and then use the fact that callings are going to be easier to dip into characters and use the catchup system to be a couple of weeks behind.

Crafters do need to grind the rep, so I might look at doing that on my so-called professionals.  But that can come AFTER my mains have reached renown 80.

I’ve enjoyed my week playing the new patch and I’m really happy with all I accomplished, but I have to be realistic with my time.

I’ve got a bunch of writing projects I want to launch into or progress this month and if July is anything, it’s a test for how well I can juggle projects.  In the past I’ve done a week on one thing, then maybe a week on another.  Now I’m going to try and keep multiple things ticking along.

There’s still the chance that July could be a terrible mess, but one of the things I’m trying to stop doing is sitting on things.  Just like stories I like to let plan percolate.  Sometimes that’s a good idea,  Sometimes, it’s not.

I want to try and get The Accursed finished this month.  I’ve managed to get some good progress on it some days – as much as 4000 words – I want to be something approaching that consistency.

I want to start work on The First Draft but it’s largely a video project at the beginning.  The video intro is done, but I need to film a few starter videos.

I also need to start filming parts of my Write Productivity series.  In them I want to share some of my experience in getting organised; what went right, and what went wrong.

I’ve also got some work on an interactive project that needs doing this month.

I also want to do some Warcraft videos.  I’m doing video on loads of other things, so why not that as well.

And of course, there is The Climb, where I have a huge backlog of 70,000 words ready to be posted.

I think I can do all this because I need to work in chunks.  So a quick video here followed by some writing, followed by a bit of Warcraft should see me be really productive.  That’s the theory anyway.

But it does mean that I can’t spend hours a day on Warcraft.  I’ll dip in and out, but I suspect my dailies will eat what time I do have.

I’ve had fun with the latest patch, and I feel quite accomplished with what I’ve got done, but as I remind myself, keeping 15 characters all current was never the plan.  The plan was to get them to Korthia and get the unlocks done, which I’ve done in the first week.  Now the focus is on raids, and getting that character maxed.  Once that’s happened I can start working on the alts again, but I will check in with them from time to time.
