I’m slowly plodding through edits. Whilst I’m happy with my progress I think I would be faster if my back brain didn’t feel a bit lost. My head has been so in BAK for the last few years that even though I have worked on other stuff my back brain is trying to sabotage me by asking if it’s as good.
The conclusion I’ve reached is that whatever first draft I write next, it has to be fun. Just as people like to contrast the light with the dark, I like to mix the serious with the not so serious. Take it too far and it becomes farce, but I like it when you read a book and you can share the author’s enjoyment in writing it.
Thankfully, 4S is that. I went in, determined to take a heavier hand to the project, but in reality, it’s actually been a joy to edit. But in the back of my mind is the fact that I want those projects I’m outlining to be as good.
It’s not all been work though. I seem to be making some gaming progress this week. The new Fortnite season begins next week and it’s a game I dip in and out of. After getting myself to level 100 and claiming all but two of the Battle Pass rewards, I’ve been working on C’s whilst they are not well. It’s certainly been a challenge when they were level 39 at the beginning of the week. But today I got them to level 100.
We had two bonus quests to do for additional styles so we did that this afternoon. The tasks proved not too bad, and we got everything done in 3 games. Just as well as I only had an hour before I had to go on Warcraft for the weekly raid.
We’ve been stuck on Sludgefist for a number of weeks. We have one attempt where we get him to 15% and then subsequent tries crap out around 50% due to badly placed rubble. I love the challenge of it. I’d watched a lot of the top raiding guilds getting stuck on this one on Mythic so I didn’t feel too bad that it was taking us time, but I could hear others getting frustrated. It’s at that time when raiding interest is dying off so it was a worry that people might quit.
But we got him down tonight. Took us 58 pulls, but we got him down. Massive accomplishment, and a great evening.
I still don’t have my legendary because whilst I’ve done Torghast on both my mains, I’ve been bad at farming soul ash. That’s my fault. I love the concept of Torghast but it just sometimes seems too slow if you are on your own. So I need to do that this coming week. If I do it before and after reset, maybe I can have it for next week, but we’ll see.
