Today I’ve been busy editing the pre-writing.  There’s quite a bit of work to do there.  I’ve written this as a collection of scenes exploring theme and character, but now I need to tie it together.

I’ve been going back and forth over the brojob scene.  Yesterday I wanted to drop it as I didn’t feel it was working.  But I realised overnight that this is about the two main characters and the way they approach change.  One wants to tear down old systems and replace them with new ones.  The other wants to rise within those existing systems and change them within. They’re a bit sexually ambiguous – and that scene demonstrates it – and it reflects their lack of willingness to change themselves.

So I spent a lot of time working on that scene and trying to make it work.  I think I have but we’ll see.  I saw something by NK Jemisin the other day and it really stuck with me as it said a lot about industry and diversity.  I might write her a letter to say thanks.

Tomorrow, I have to change the tense of an entire scene.  It was also one of the first scenes I wrote so there’s a lot that needs replacing.  I’ll probably end up rewriting it from scratch.  But I’m also aware that it’s mid-week tomorrow, which is when I wanted to be done with this (as I have other things to do).  And, I not only need to change the tense in this chapter, I need to edit two further chapters, convert it to Word and then do my grammar and spelling checks.

And tomorrow is Warcraft reset day!   As I start to get towards the end of leveling all my alts I’ve started working on professions in my writing breaks.  This is boring work and so well suited to breaks when I don’t want to be absorbed by the game for ages.  I’ve been doing Legion Engineering this week, and just as I amass ore to craft the next levels, the items I’ve collected for turns green and stops giving me a level for each craft.  This is going to take forever.

With reset, the plan for tomorrow is to take all the alts through the World Boss.  I’m trying to unlock the weeklies on each of them, but like the Legion Engineering, I’m doing this slowly over multiple sessions.

Still, if I need to take a break, I have a chapter whose tense I need to change.
