So the plan for today, and indeed the entire week, has been focused on my second covid jab.  I’m terrible for ‘allowing’ myself time to be ill, and as a result, on the rare occasions that I am, I find myself getting frustrated that I’m not progressing with projects instead of resting.

I’m not sure whether to expect a reaction or not to my second jab (the first knocked me out for about a day afterwards), and I don’t want to “take a planned break” in case I’m fine.  But with a spate of disruptive days, I’ve simply told myself that my focus for the week is the jab and any after effects.

My vaccination centre is on the other side of town so I walked to it.  I’m still a little wary about taxis and buses, plus the walk would do me good.  I can listen to music, plot storylines and get a few pictures for The Climb, all while getting some exercise.

The downside to this is that allowing for the time to walk there, get jabbed and then come home, whilst doing all those things, meant that it ate the day.  I anticipated that though, and the focus of the week was getting jabbed and recovering from any side-effects, so I didn’t feel guilty for doing so.

I found myself thinking about The First Draft project that I was thinking about back in March.  The idea was for a web serial where I’d show behind the scenes and the various stages of creation from first draft through to editing.

That web serial became The Accursed.  Even though it’s now being written as a novel, it still has some of the hallmarks of a web serial.  Lots of characters, short scenes.

As I walked, I worked out a complete technical process of how to do it: from livestreaming to putting repeats on Youtube, to even having editing content on Patreon.  I still think the idea has legs, although with other projects on the go, my original plan of doing it daily seems to have been pushed to weekly.  It was much simpler then, whereas now there’s more of a process.

What’s brought this idea to the fore is that at some point in the next X weeks, The Accursed will be finished and then I’ll need another project.  Perhaps this is it.

However, I did get home to find details of another job.  I probably need to begin some work on that later this week / next week.  This is potentially good news, but there’s a bit of work to do.

And, of course, I still have a whole lot yet to write on The Accursed, which has not progressed in three days due to being busy.  I had hoped that my brain would have focused on that whilst walking to and from the vaccination centre, but I often find it’s best to just let the mind wander.

So far, other than feeling tired from all the walking, I’ve not had any after effects from my jab.  Last time it took 12 hours before they showed up, which means I could suffer during the night.  If I do, it’s still a price worth paying.  I’ve pretty much freed up my next three days if needed.  But if I don’t, I’ve got The Accursed, writing up the Final Draft process, and this new project to keep me busy.
