Pokemon Go events eat my day.

They always seem to be on from 11 until 2pm or 5pm and as such, take up enough of the day that there’s not time to really do anything either side of the event.

Today was a 3 hour sustainability event for Earth Day.  There was a collection challenge that the completionist in me felt compelled to finish.  It didn’t take long, but I’d gone to my support bubble for the event and as such there was not time to really go back home and do a bit of work for a few hours.

However, seeing as I got the synopsis and pre-writing for The Accursed done yesterday as well as sorting out the complicated tax document I need as part of this detailed outline I’m producing then I didn’t feel bad about spending the rest of the day watching Shadow and Bone on Netflix.

I really enjoyed this series and I’ve added the first book to my want lists.  I’m currently reading The Three Muskateers and so it may be a while before I’m finished and ready to choose a new book.

I found myself deconstructing the characters as I watched.  There were some key archetypes in there but they seemed to all be given a bit of a twist.  It got me thinking about my characters in The Accursed and some of the work that I need to do to bring them out and make them stand out a bit.

I also thought the Russian aesthetic was a sign to me that some of the worlds I want to build are possible.  It means that an idea that I was having trouble putting together and was close to being trunked, has legs, and I need to approach it a little differently.

Although next week is dedicated to the detailed outline, my plan is to continue to write The Accursed.  I might not get much done each day, but I want to keep it ticking along whilst I work on the outline.

I also want to use next week to be a bit of a house tidy up week.  I’ve been so busy that the housework has been lacking a bit and the place needs a tidy up.  With the completion of my 15th World of Warcraft alt, I’m getting to the stage where I have less things to do in game  (or rather, the things I need to do are more compact in terms of time), so a week tidying up the house in between writing the detailed outline might not be a bad idea.

I completed my collection challenge which was good.  I also was reminded that I have a Pokemon Go PvP tournament tomorrow which means another day eaten up by Pokemon Go.  I’ve thrown a team together but the team rules are so complicated I don’t feel confident about my team at all and will just be making up the numbers.

I’m just glad I got everything done yesterday otherwise I would be stressing that I wasted a day.
