I’m slowly coming to the end of unlocking the the Archvist Codex Rep on all my alts. I still have about 4 to go. I made a big push today and unlocked a few more.
Where the challenge has been has been the dailies.
What I’ve been doing is starting at the top with the most important characters and doing their dailies. I’ve not been superfast about getting these done because events spawn all around the zone and there’s benefit from getting diverted. If these characters can unlock their weekly chest, then there’s a good chance they will get loot, and I’ve already noticed that once they start to get to around 170 ilevel then their performance improves.
I’ve also been doing the Torments of Torghast event every 2 hours (when I remember / am able). You can only do this once per week per character, and it has the chance to drop the cool hand mount I got yesterday. It also drops a load of other items which really help with my alts catching up.
Some alts, have been particularly brutal. It’s been a slog to get them through the content. But as I remind myself, the aim is really just to get them into the zone and the rep unlocked.
Going forward, I’m not going to be doing them all daily. It’s too much time, and I can’t play wow 24/7 as much as I would like. These new patches represent a staycation for me. I’ll keep doing it until they are all unlocked, and then I may just focus on the crafters. I can feel myself burning out a little already.
However, I do think that if I do have them all unlocked, jumping in and doing dailies between writing projects is going to be quite helpful. I work best when I have things to do between writing sessions.
We had a raid tonight and because the new raid doesn’t unlock until Wednesday, we just did some old raids for achievements. It was fun to do but from next week, we’re back on progression. That had me coming back home late tonight to focus a bit on my raiding alt. He’s progressing well due to the time I’ve put in, but he’s not had any special attention so far. Going forwards, I will be prioritising him a bit more.
I’m enjoying the new content, but it’s now getting to the stage where I want to back off a little and do other things. That’s where I want to be. But this unlock is a one time thing, so once it’s done, it’s done and I can then gain rep at whatever speed I like.
So I’m hoping that tomorrow will be my final day of grind and I can go back to my normal day to day activities, and start getting a bunch of writing and video projects done. I want to get the backlog of The Climb uploaded this week, I have an outline to revise, a first draft that needs completing, and some video projects I want to do. I realise I also have Warcraft Wednesday where we will unlock flying, so I don’t expect that (and possibly Thursday) to be super productive on the writing front.
Still…Warcraft patches come along once every 4 – 6 months and I usually just tick along in the background. A week of heavy playing is a great way to reset.
