Sunday 4th April 2021

I seem to have settled into a nice little groove at the moment.  Work is getting done and I’m also having plenty of time to play things like World of Warcraft.  There are improvements that could be made, but everything seems to be moving forwards.

I managed to get my priest to level 60 today.  This is a major accomplishment as I’ve been stuck on them for weeks.  Putting in a lot of effort yesterday to today I’ve taken them from 55 to 60.  Have been listening to an audiobook as I do so, meaning that it wasn’t the hell I expected.

Next on the list is the mage, although they took so long to kill anything I may have to look at their spec and build.  I also might level a couple of monks in the meantime as they feel quicker.

It was also the start of Darkmoon Faire today.  Part of my motivation for getting the priest leveled is that I had always said I wanted to get all my alts leveled before 9.1.  Yes, that’s still some time off but I still have a lot of characters to do.

As part of that leveling, it includes their various professions, which I want to max out as part of my 9.1 target.  Darkmoon Faire gives quests to give 5 profession levels each time, so I try and make a point of taking my characters through it, just to move them along.  Usually, the quests are best used when you have leveled up to just under the next level for new profession recipes but are stuck.  However, I’ve been doing all my characters that are not at max Shadowlands profession.

I’ve got a bit of work to do on all my alts but even if they are not stuck (and I just haven’t done the crafting for mats I have), it’s still less work I otherwise have to do, mats or not.

Because it was Easter and people were away, it wasn’t the usual raid.  The guild instead opted to go to Nyalotha which I hadn’t done.  We tried it on Mythic but it was too hard, so we did it on heroic instead and got it all done.  It was fun and I one day look forward to soloing all this content for the mount that’s now a 1% drop chance.

But whilst there was a lot of gaming, it wasn’t all gaming.  Work is still progressing on the Accursed.  Because these are sample chapters, I’m jumping around a bit and leaving scenes half done.  I guess this is the idea of the sample chapters.

I’d still like to get more words done a day.  At the moment I’m doing around 700 each session as I find the rhythm and voice of the story.  I’m happy with shorter writing sessions if I can have more session during the day.  Once Easter is out the way then I plan to spend a bit more focused time on swapping between leveling and writing.

But I’m happy how it’s going.  700 words at this stage isn’t bad, and the characters seem to be coming together on the page.  I just need to pick up the pace.
