Fortnite – The Climb #745

Of the various games I play, one of them is Fortnite.

We started playing a few years ago when C was looking after their nephew and wanted us to play with them. C’s nephew has moved on, but C and I still play.

It’s a game I dip in and out of. I might play a couple of games over lunch now and then. Some seasons I play more heavily than others. Yet I always seem to think I have more time and get to the end of the season and suddenly finding myself rushing to get the battle pass complete.

I’ve become better over the years at knowing how best to level. I tend to use a mix of supercharged XP and quests to really level up. This season we’ve been a bit slow. I’ve been focused on Warcraft and C’s not been feeling well (videogames can be a trigger), so we’re a week or so away and we’re both not even half way through.

Obviously quests get released each week so it’s easier to level at the end, and I’ve put in some work the last few days, using those to level up. I managed to get to 100, only to now wish I’d done more so I could have unlocked the bonus skin variations. Oh well, maybe next season.

C is in a worse position. They are level 39 and, due to medical issues flaring up, in no state to play videogames for an extended period. So, now I’ve got to 100, I’ve taken their login and I’m playing for them.

I have a week to get to 100. It’s a tall ask. But they’ve hardly done any quests. When we play, they are very much one quest at a time, whereas I try and batch them together. As I’ve found doing my own season, I’m a lot quicker leveling on my own, and so it’s going to be a challenge but I’m going to attempt to get them to 100. I managed to get them to low 50’s today so if that holds out, hopefully it’s doable.

With all the shit that’s happened over the last week, and with Warcraft being a bit dead outside of raiding, something like this is probably ideal. It’ll take my mind off things but due to the supercharged XP, will limit me from playing all my spare time.
