Tuesday 1st June 2021
At the moment, days can largely be categorised as either good writing days or bad writing days.
As we head into June my focus for the next month is to get the first draft of The Accursed done. That currently feels like an impossible target. Despite feeling like I’ve already been writing this for forever, I don’t feel I have the word count to back that up.
There’s still a long way to go.
But finally, my writing sessions are getting longer. I’ve gone from 300 – 400 words in a twenty minute session all the way to 1000 – 1200 in about an hour long session. I did close to 3500 words today and I’m very pleased with that, especially as I worked on other projects as well. I still have an abundance of tiny tasks that have come from nowhere to be done, but I crossed off a few in between writing.
Gaming also went well today. I’ve not been playing a whole lot of Warcraft at the moment outside of raids and Wednesday reset due to the fact that the Fortnite season ends next week and I’m still far from level 100. I’m going to need to put a bit of focus into it now.
For the raid tonight, we went to an old raid and did the glory achievements. We managed to get them all, even though we had to redo one as I never got one of them. No mount from this sadly but I got a battle pet and a title. After Sunday feeling a bit boring, tonight was fun.
So with a bunch of writing done, some task that have been hanging over me cleared off, and a bunch of Warcraft achievements unlocked, I feel quite accomplished today. Even the writing was fun and not like the endless run of dialogue it’s felt like the last week. Oh well, if George R R Martin can get away with it, I guess I can to.
I’m liking how the character arcs are going in this story. It’s definitely fun seeing how events twist people in different directions. That’s not to say I don’t have worries. Of course I do. They always happen on bad writing days. But you still have to keep plodding on. I just hope for more good writing days going forwards.
