Life is incredibly boring right now… but that might not be a bad thing.

Focus has been on this pre-writing and today I finished the Scrivener edit, including rewriting an entire chapter to change the tense.  Tomorrow I’ll export it to Word and do a line edit on it before sending it out to my agent to get her opinion.

It was also Warcraft Wednesday so I went through all my alts and did the World Boss on them to get them additional renown.  Where some have unlocked the Maw Souls weekly, I did that as well.

And so, all in all, a really productive day.  It’s just it feels all work at the moment  (even when I’m playing Warcraft).  I’ve got a detailed synopsis to do after this and I already started laying the groundwork for that today.

I’m in lockdown life until my second jab and even after I have that, I’m not sure there’s anything to look forward to.  Usually there’s a holiday or event.  This week, today’s big highlight was a new episode of Curse of Oak Island.  I yearn for an adventure and had I not got rid of the car during the pandemic, I’d take off somewhere where there are no people.

Instead, I have my head down and working, and no doubt future me will thank current me, but it feels like an endless cycle right now.  That said, I probably wouldn’t want it any other way.  I want to put lots of things out into the world so that (because the world of writing is slow) the returns come back to me in good time.

Maybe some good news on the script I did in January, or this pre-writing develops into something down the line.  That’s the trouble with writing.  You put in a lot of work and it takes months or even years to reap any type of monetary or emotional reward from that hard work.

So for now,  I’m being productive.  Maybe not as productive as I’d like but shit’s getting done and future me will thank me for it.  I’m just starting to think of how I want to reward myself when I get these projects complete.  The house needs a complete tidy but that doesn’t feel like much of a reward.  Perhaps I’ll give myself a week off and do… something.

And if in the meantime, I can be more productive so I reach that goal faster without a loss of quality, all the better.
