The detailed outline is done. I finished it off today and sent it across.
It’s represented a major piece of work and something very different from anything I’ve done before, but it’s been a lot of fun.
In terms of time, I put way more hours into it than I was paid to do, but being paid to do it was a nice bonus.
This might develop into a much larger job or it could go no further. Either way, I’ve really enjoyed the challenge of doing this and am proud of the result.
I’ve already been told it’ll be a couple of weeks before I hear… which means I have a couple of weeks to work on something else.
I think my plan is to start picking up The Accursed and progress that. I want to have fun with that novel which means punching some of the characters up a notch. But most of all, I want to get a first draft done. Looking at The Climb backlog, I’ve almost written half a novel, so if I could do similar for The Accursed, I could keep it ticking along in the background.
I have another idea I also want to start developing. It’s not so much that I want to have something else instead of The Accursed, but I’d like to have something stirring in the background so that when I have finished the first draft of The Accursed, I have something new to jump into.
I also have a few household tasks that really need doing. The plan is to prioritise those and dip into The Accursed several times a day, focusing not so much on huge daily wordcounts, but keeping the novel ticking along.
Today though, after having got the detailed outline done by middle of the day, I took myself off into town for the first time in over a year. I’m so out of shape, the walk almost killed me. But I’d also like to get out more regularly now the summer months are here. Not that it feels like May!
I’m pleased I got the detailed outline done and out the door. That’s another piece of work I got completed this year. So far I’ve written and submitted a script, edited a novel, outlined a couple more, written this detailed outline, and have written pieces of a couple of novels. The priority for me now is to get one of those novels done in the form of The Accursed.
But that can start tomorrow!
