Thursday 1st April 2021
Today was mostly spent on working on some concepts for a pitch I’m putting together. It seems weird, because most of the work is really about thinking and daydreaming. And so, I get to the end of the day thinking “have I actually done anything all day”.
To be honest, I’m at my most effective if I lie down, close my eyes and just let my mind wander. It doesn’t feel like work, and yet… the output suggests otherwise.
I have 3 concepts now. I’ll fine tune them over the Easter break and I could do with one more, but I’ve broken the back of this particular piece of work.
I had planned to start writing some sample chapters of one of the new outlines tonight, but I ended up falling asleep on my friend’s sofa and not getting home until very late. I still can’t understand how I spend the entire day daydreaming and then still feel tired. I guess all this imagination is tiring work.
Because I’ve been so focused and have so much to do, I’ve been really bad at using my ToDo planner. It’s kinda ironic but it seems when I use it least is when I’m at my busiest. That’s because I have a bunch of clear tasks I need to focus on and anything else would be a distraction.
So the 4S redraft is done and ready to send off.
The concepts are 75% done. I just need to leave them for a couple of days and come back to them
I have 2 outlines that are 50% done. It’s just the tricky stuff done and I need to give those a bit of focus over the weekend
I have sample chapters of the completed outline I need to write. I’ll also need to do this for the outlines above once they are complete.
With that done I’m probably going to give myself a week’s rest. I know loads of writer friends who are taking breaks over the Easter period, but I’d not planned to and I want to get all these tasks complete.
I did take a little break yesterday and instead of trying to level my priest (which is hell), I did my monk instead and got a level out of them in what was an enjoyable experience. I do need to finish leveling off my alts and maybe that week break is a perfect time to do it in.
Can’t get too distracted from it just yet though. Still got plenty of work I need to complete (the outlines alone needs 60,000 words written and then edited!)
