Warcraft Wednesday: Renown Farming – The Climb #803

Wednesday is typically my Warcraft day. It’s the day that all the weekly quests reset and as such it’s always been a big day for me.

I have now levelled most of my alts. I still have 3 (4 if you include the alliance alt) to do but progress has slowed right down. Instead, I’ve been a bit more focused on World Bosses over the last few weeks.

They drop some high level gear which is handy as well as giving you a renown (even if you’ve not unlocked the covenant sanctum). I’m not sure I really need renown as much as I need to level professions but I am doing Darkmoon Faire each month so that is still ticking along, The reason I do it is because come 9.1 there may be a need to enter new zones and that’ll require gear and possibly renown.

Each covenant is different but once you hit level 60 there are a number of quests to do before you unlock the two weekly quests. One is to rescue people from the Maw, the other is to farm anima.

As part of catch up mechanisms they also reward renown, so doing these are a good way to slowly improve these characters.

Over the past few weeks I’ve done work on a lot of characters to unlock these quests. After all, perhaps the command table will prove to be useful in later patches. I was actually surprised how little I need to do in terms of unlocking these quests on remaining characters.

But I did then spend most of my day going and killing the world boss, and rescuing souls on all my alts. Where it wasn’t unlocked on some characters, I did the unlock quest instead. The important thing was that they all got at least one renown.

Of course, it would make sense both in terms of gearing and in terms of gold making for each of those characters to do the daily callings, but I’ve been bad doing these on just my mains. But, if I feel I need a big Warcraft session in the week ahead, perhaps I’ll do it and see how long it takes.

Whilst I was doing this I was watching a 5 hour Youtube documentary on the latest storylines of the X-Men. My own Marvel reading is still many years back so it’ll be a long while until I come back to these stories but there’s something about condensed storytelling that I enjoy. I’m not sure if this explains why I can write synopsises or whether my interest is on plot, but I’m sure this type of video would be boring for some, but I find it really engaging and it (along with Warcraft) really creatively charged me up.

I feel satisfied that I got a lot done in Warcraft today. My aim of getting all my alts leveled and professions maxed before 9.1 feels possible Although I suspect I’ve been massively aided by hwo long 9.1 has taken.
