Tuesday 27th July 2021

Today has been a bit of a battle to get things done.  I woke up not feeling well.  I’m not sure if I’d just slept funny and snored a lot but I woke with a very sore throat, and feeling fatigued.  After yesterday, where I slept for 10 hours and felt very rested, today I felt like I’d not had an ounce of sleep.

As a result, everything I wanted to do, became a battle.  I wrote early, but I don’t think the words were very good as it felt much like how I write when I’m half asleep.  Still, I got my words done.

I’d planned to get some videos done today.  I wanted to try and get one a day out this week… and here we are on day 2 and I’ve got too sore a throat to speak.  That meant no videos and no streaming.

I did get a little bit of Warcraft done.  After the scandal of the last week, I’ve not logged in much and as a result, one of my mains still hadn’t done their weeklies yet.  So I did that before tomorrow’s reset.  It would have been the perfect chance to stream and get some video for Youtube but my throat was still sore.

However, I did respond to a business opportunity and got that moving forward.  I did take the next step with my ongoing saga to get my Twitter back.  I did get The Climb done and posted.

Today convinced me about how I want to build streaks in my habit tracker.  Normally the way things work is that you do something every day or you break your streak.  Some are more advanced and allow you to skip days if, for example, you are ill like I was today.  But that seems a little too easy.  So what I want instead of a streak is a score system.  If you do your habit you score 1.  If you skipped it because -in the example of going to a gym 3 times a week it’s a rest day – you score 0.  But if you were supposed to do something and you didn’t then you score -1.  There also has to be some multiplier for streaks that you keep if you skip, but resets to 1 if you miss.

Of course, I’d need to build this somehow and I’m not sure my Notion wizardry is up to it.

Today ended up being a semi-productive day, but it was a bit of a battle and the things I got done weren’t all the things I wanted to prioritise.  Still, the fact I got some things done was good, especially on a day where I felt rough enough to feel the day a bit of a write off.  It’s definitely not Covid, as I did a test for that yesterday, but I just hope today’s illness is just a 24 hour bug rather than the start of something prolonged.

We’ll see.
