I would have considered today not to have been a productive day. Sure I got an acceptable number of words done but I was supposed to be doing some joint content in World of Warcraft today and got on early, only for the other person not to show. As a result, I felt there was possibly a little too much Warcraft.
I know a lot of writers who gave up Warcraft because they found it was eating up too much of their time, but I find it the best way to creatively recharge between writing sessions. I would have had more writing sessions but I didn’t want to log off in case the person I was supposed to be joining up with came online. Poor excuse really, they could have always of messaged me via Discord.
It wouldn’t have been so bad if I’d felt that I’d got a lot of things done in Warcraft. I ended up going back to Drustvar and finishing off the zone, taking the time to read the quest text. I even made sure I didn’t fly between quest areas so that I maintained that virgin feel to the questing experience.
If there’s one main reason for leveling a character of the opposite faction, it’s Battle For Azeroth. I’ve flown over this zone time and time again as Horde, but somehow, it feels different as Alliance. I came across entire areas I’ve never seen before.
I know that it’s all to do with quest paths and having dedicated areas for each faction in each zone, but it does amaze me how different things can look from a different perspective.
I also continued leveling another character. This is my second horde Demon Hunter. I have a good feel for the class as it’s what my Alliance Raiding alt is. I managed to get it to mid 59 last night so it looks like this will be my third level 60 inside a week.
I feel I’ve broken the back of my alt leveling. I’m now over half way through and we’re in the homeward straight. It’s been helped by the fact that even when I wasn’t actively power-leveling, I’ve still used things like Silithus and the odd spare hour, to level the remaining characters a level or two. I don’t have an alt under 51 now (well I do, but of the ones I intend to level to 60, I mean).
I still have some tricky classes (I’m looking at you shaman and mage) but I have Monks, Death Knights and Warriors in that mix as well, so it’s not going to be all bad.
I tried to make sure my Alliance main did some herbalism whilst in Drustvar. I need to start to look at old professions and leveling those. That will be the next focus after the alt leveling. Some professions could be easy, but I reckon some (I need a second engineer) could be an absolute pain.
And between all this, I need to write. Hopefully, given how boring these tasks become when you are doing it repeatedly, it will encourage me to take breaks from Warcraft and do some writing for a time. If I can get that to happen, then I’ll be at my most productive.
