Today ended up being a big Pokemon day, even though I hadn’t planned it to be.

Warcraft is a little frustrating at the moment as I’m currently trying to level another character through Pandaria.  However, for some reason, that expansion is really laggy and as a result, I’m really not enjoying the leveling experience.

I had tried to level a Death Knight through Wrath of the Lich king, except I’d forgotten I’d done a little of that before the level squish and as a result I had a problem finding where I was up to.  I ended up taking them back to Draenor.

But I’d had a notification that it was the Ghost Event in Pokemon Go.  Ordinarily I would have left it.  Recent decisions by Niantic have left me feeling a little annoyed at the direction of the game.  But I do seem to like to completed the researches, so I found myself catching Drifloom whilst sat at my desk.  I now have decent spawns at my house, which means I can work and glance at my phone every so often to find a new spawn.

I thought C might want to go to the park and play.  I typically get left behind a bit due to being less able to consistently do great and excellent throws, so I decided to just work through it while I was sat at my computer.

By the time I went round I was on the last stage and was already swearing about constant great and excellent throws.  But I got those done by late afternoon, despite C not wanting to go out and the spawns at their house being less abundant than at mine.

They started late so they were playing right up to the end.  They managed to complete it as well though, so there was no drama.

I was glad I managed to finish it, but there’s part of me that disliked how it took over my day… not that I had anything better to do.  But still…

I’m in a bit of a weird relationship with the game right now.  I feel their move to push people into going out to play is ill-advised given the current escalation in the pandemic.  But I still want the shinies and research completions, even if I feel I have to play at a disadvantage.

Oh well, it made a break from Warcraft, if nothing else.
