In an announcement that will surprise no-one, least not me, I cannot fit into my fencing jacket.

I’m not surprised.  I’ve hardly exercised in the past 2 months, and whilst I’ve eaten sensibly, I’m a person who needs to eat perfectly, and do plenty of exercise.

And I have no real excuses but it is especially frustrating when social distanced sword sparring is starting to take place again.  I’ve been in 2 minds about it.  On one hand:  seeing friends and getting a bit of practise in would be great.  On the other hand:  I’m sure we’re only a few weeks away from a second wave and I’m not sure if I want to increase my exposure risk right now.

My lunchtime walks have been curtailed a bit the last week due to day job meetings and the weather.  I’ve also been feeling very tired, which whilst it doesn’t seem as bad now, still has been lurking around in the background.

However, I’m going to choose to look at this in a slightly different way.  I have been doing walks when I can, I have got my Indian clubs, and I have got a kettlebell on the way.  If I want to start burning off some of that weight, I’ve already done the preparatory steps needed.  I suppose the only thing left is to tidy up the garden a bit to allow me space to play with weapons that aren’t at risk of hitting the ceiling indoors.  That and pump the tyres up on the bike.

So whilst I’ve got a lot of things to do this weekend, I’m going to attempt to strim the garden and go for a bike ride.

Instead of getting annoyed for that one time I’ve had takeout the entire time we’ve been in lockdown, I’m instead going to focus on the future and see past me as having done all the prep work needed so I can put some focus into exercise in the coming weeks.

I’ll still need to find a way to make myself accountable.  It’s too easy for me to be busy and skip days.  But I’ll figure that out as I go along.
