I feel like I’ve been really lazy this week. Whilst there are some weeks where I don’t feel like I get a lot of things done, it’s not usually due to a lack of trying.
Yet, this week. I don’t think I’ll look back at this week and see it being as instrumental in my career. With my finger bandaged up, I can’t really drive, I’ve not been to the gym, I’ve not gone swordfighting. I’ve been late to get editions of The Climb up.
All I’ve done is spend the week, eating rice cakes, playing EVE and watching Netflix.
To be fair, I am suffering a pretty major injury and resting is the right thing to do. My left hand hasn’t got a lot of movement in it and as a result even typing is difficult. I can’t bend the finger and I’m not sure if that’s due to having it bandaged up or because I injured a tendon or muscle in the process of slicing my finger off.
Either way, I’ve probably done too much as it is. Whilst I can use the computer for small amounts of time, I really should have taken the week off work. I’ve ended each work day with my hand aching to the point of hurting.
The bandage was supposed to come off yesterday but I plan to leave it on until Sunday. It’s come loose a bit but feels stuck at the end. It’s probably from dry blood. I’m just worried that if I yank it off, I might pull the end of my finger off with it. I know that’s unlikely, but given how it hurts I don’t feel I’ve let it heal properly.
So today was a rest day. I slept in late. I never went into town. I just chilled.
Craig popped round this evening with the best Bolognese and we finished off The Punisher. We’re now up to date with the Marvel Netflix Universe. Oddly, I enjoyed the series other people seemed to dislike. Luke Cage was my least favourite and I really enjoyed The Defenders.
The Punisher was a bit of a mixed bag for me. A couple of episodes in I got a bit bored with it, but it definitely picked up towards the end. It was quite violent as well, which made Craig squirm and made me decide that I’m going to create a bloodthirsty violent assassin character in one of my books and call him Craig.
Surprisingly, I found the series gave me a number of ideas for the Shade Knight books. I’m not sure if these can all be done in the next book (I’m not just going to cram ideas in for the sake of it) but it is always good to get inspired.
I think we’re going to watch Altered Carbon next. I think the plan is to only decide one series ahead as otherwise – given the rate of new series – we’ll develop a backlog pretty quick.
We finished the evening playing some EVE Online once he got home. I’m still struggling getting into that game but it’s always more fun when you play with friends.
